Frequently asked questions

What is Shekoni?

Shekoni makes preserves and condiments for the table. The range brings together sweetness, acidity, heat and spice in combinations that feel both new and familiar.

What is Tatashe?

Tatashe is a sweet red pepper preserve with Scotch bonnet. Sweet and fruity first, with the heat coming through underneath. Put it beside sharp cheese, spoon it into a burger or serve it with eggs and sandwiches.

What is Zobo?

Zobo is a hibiscus and charred pineapple preserve with ginger, baobab and vanilla. Bright, tart and floral. Serve it with cheese, yoghurt, warm scones or desserts.

What is Yaji?

Yaji is hot honey with suya spice. Sweet, nutty and savoury, with a slow heat. Drizzle it over fried chicken, pizza, grilled halloumi, roasted vegetables or cheese.

What influences Shekoni’s flavours?

Tatashe, Zobo and Yaji take their names and flavour references from West African food traditions. Shekoni brings them to the food Adele cooks and serves in London now.

How hot are the products?

The heat is there, but it is not the whole point.

Tatashe has a gentle, building heat from Scotch bonnet. Yaji is warmer, with sweetness from the honey and savoury depth from the suya spice. Zobo is the mildest of the three.

Do any Shekoni products contain allergens?

Yaji contains peanuts.

Tatashe and Zobo are made in a facility that handles peanuts. Please read the full ingredients and allergen information on the product page and jar before eating.

If you have a serious allergy and need more information, contact us at info@shekoni.co.uk before ordering.

Is Yaji vegan?

No. Yaji is made with honey and is therefore not suitable for vegans.

How should I store the jars?

Keep unopened jars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. After opening, follow the storage instructions printed on the jar.

The best-before date is printed on each product.
